Introducing our pilot project to tackle the massive issue of Amazon FBA Returns.
We have a target of zero waste for our returns project. Our aim is to create a dedicated business to help Amazon Sellers recoup income from their Returns (often referred to as our 'pile of shame'!).

SO WHY A PROJECT THAT TACKLES RETURNS?
THE PROJECT BACKGROUND
Having been Amazon Resellers ourselves we are well aware of the apparent oversight of sellers in their approach to managing returns. We see mentions of the issues through different forums on a regular basis. Most recently, we saw returns being referred to 'the pile of shame' as boxes and discarded deliveries are seemingly put aside to have something done with them at a later time.
We have all been guilty of it and as prep centres managing our customer returns we get to see it first hand all over again with building stock from auto return processes. So we thought - STOP! Let's try to do something about it.
TRANSPARENT SYSTEMS
Our systems do offer our customers a high degree of transparency of all in-stock items (either surplus or because of the auto return programme) but it's fair to note that this doesn't mean that decisions are easily made about what to do with the stock affected, many of which are items that can't potentially be returned straight away to Amazon. If at all.
THE STATE OF OUR CONSUMERISM
We know that Amazon has a number of pilot projects ongoing to strive towards a zero waste policy from customer returns that remain in their warehouses. They are nowhere near yet but they have highlighted the real need to address our consumer wastefulness. So much purchased is easily discarded - it's a real first world problem. The results of which are having profoundly negative impacts on some key drivers for Climate Change.
OUR PASSION
We wanted to make a positive difference and to look at ways in which we could 'do our part' for several reasons. Examples as follows:

Primarily to assist our customers in providing easy solutions to monetise unwanted stock - the more we can 'grade and re-purpose then the less waste and more money in our customers pocket

To take our learnings through the pilot and create an open resource for wider Online Sellers to repurpose and recycle as much as possible.

To rid those 'piles of shame' once and for all.
Ultimately this is about helping to negate our impact on Climate Change for generations to come. We have a vested interest in making a viable business out of other people’s leftovers.
